Hey, itā€™s Ryan. Iā€™ve organized all Iā€™ve learned about LinkedIn Profiles. You can jump to a section, or read all the way through. If youā€™ve got questions, DM me on LinkedIn or Twitter.

Keywords & SEO

Yes, this is a thing. Your Headline, About, and Experience sections can all be search engine optimized. Recruiters look for specific keywords. Using the right keywords helps you get discovered.

How do I know which keywords to use?

Got time? Use TealHQ: https://www.tealhq.com/how-it-works

In a hurry? Use LinkedIn:

  1. Go to ā€œJOBSā€
  2. Go to ā€œRESUME BUILDERā€
  3. Click ā€œCREATE FROM PROFILEā€

You should get at least 4 suggested keywords. The fun part is, if you add these to your profile, and run this process again, youā€™ll get new ones recommended to you. Rinse & repeat.

Headline

This does not have to be your current (or most recent) job title.
